{How To} A Berry Good Thing

When my friend Abby from paper & Cake asked for help on a Grocery Store Party, I was all in.  I just adore working with her!!

She had one simple request- to keep things on the healthier side of life.  My mind went straight to the farmers market!  Lucky for me, there is one around the corner.

So, while I am unpacking from SNAP and gathering my thoughts…

I thought I would share a taste of what you will see in the new collection-

Felt Strawberries How To - The Sewing Loft

This project is for all levels.

Skill Level- 1 Button

Materials:

  • Colored Felt
  • Needle & Thread
  • Poly Fil
Pattern:
Click for Felt Strawberry Pattern for the printable pdf file.

Basic Instructions:

  1. Cut berries & leaves from felt.  Fold berry in half, pin and straight stitch along the edge from top to bottom.
  2. Turn right side out.  You will have a small dimple at the bottom.  This is perfect.
  3. Stuff with Polyfil.  With needle and thread run a long basting stitch around the top opening of berry.  Pull closed and stitched.
  4. Change thread color to match your leaves and stitch them to the top.  On my berries, some have 2 sets of leaves, others have 3.  Your choice.
*remember this is just a quickie from the collection. More detailed instructions are included.

  63. Pretty Handy Girl says:

Heather, these are so stinkin’ cute! I love them. They’d be adorable in a bowl of more felt fruit ;-D. It was really nice meeting you at SNAP. I wish we could have talked longer.

Thanks for joining the DIY Talent parade!

  64. These are so cute. What about sewing some seeds on them?

    • So glad you like them! It would be a fun idea but I wanted to keep it child friendly. When adding any small parts to children’s toys it could become a choking hazard. So, just be sure to keep in mind who the item is being made for.

  65. Already a subscriber via email. Love the blog and love felt!

    • Hello Janis,
I am so flattered to hear that you enjoy the blog. This giveaway end. Maybe I should include a note since Cool2Craft just released the video today. But on a bright note, there is a HUGE giveaway starting on Thursday! I promise, you will not be disappointed.
