A few weeks ago I shared my peacock pillow design on Facebook and based on your response, the design is a hit! This pattern has been created for a very special project with Enchanted Makeovers.
Peacock Pillow
Today, I am sharing the full how to and pattern for you to make your very own pillow to pass along.
This project is for all levels.
Skill Level- 1 Button
- base fabric to cover pillow
- colored fabrics for appliqué (reclaimed tees)
- double-sided fusible
- pillow insert
- embroidery thread *optional*
- Sewing Machine
- Iron
- basic sewing supplies
Basic Instructions:
- Measure your pillow to determine the base fabric size. Don’t forget to add seam allowance. See easy pillow cover instructions here.
- Trace pattern pieces onto fusible. Following the directions on package, apply the fusible to the wrong side of fabric; cut out pieces.
- Position body on lower center of pillow. Once you are happy with placement, peel the backer paper of fusible off; place and iron as directed on packaging.
- Continue to place feathers and fuse in place. I like to start at the bottom and work from side to side. This will help keep the appliqué uniform in shape.
- You may wish to add a straight stitch or zig zag stitch along the edge of appliqué for that extra detail.
- I like to add simple hand stitching around the upper feathers to enhance that handmade look.

This design was created for Enchanted Makeovers. Please feel free to download the pattern and create a pillow for the shelter. Send pillows to Enchanted Makeovers 12663 Hipp St Taylor Mi 48180 or for more information, email enchantedmakeovers@comcast.net

Even though everyone will be using the same design, each pillow will be uniquely different. Please share your talents & skills to create a peacock pillow for the shelter. Pillows should be sent to Enchanted Makeovers by October 30th 2012.
Here is a small glimpse into the shelter. The bedspreads are a soft chenille with light turquoise coloring and flowers partnered with red gingham. Please keep this in mind when creating your pillows. Prefered colors are light background, pink, yellow, turquoise, lavender and greens. Be sure to have fun here mixing color and patterns.
I can not wait to see the amazing pillows you create! Please be sure to share pictures on the Facebook page.

Thanks for tutorial… But tried to download PDF and it says it’s been deleted. Can you help please? Maybe you could email it to me?
Many thanks.

Jo, I am very sorry you are having trouble. I went back, double checked everything and had no issues downloading. You need to click on the words “Peacock Pillow Pattern” and it will open a new window and take you directly to Scribd. From there, just click the orange download button on the right.
Let me know if you are still having trouble!

KINDA NEW TO THE SEWING WORLD! I WAS WONDERING WHAT KIND OF FUSIBLE SHOULD I USE? JUST FOUND YOUR WEBSITE AND I AM IN LOVE!!
Hello Tracy,
Welcome to the world of Stitching!!
We are a great community and are always here to help. There are many different options in the fusible world so, I will just name a few brands in no particular order.
Heath n Bond- offers (I believe) two different versions that you can purchase at your local craft supply store or Walmart in pre packaged sized.
Pellon – offers a line of Wonder Under that comes in different weights. This can be purchased at your local fabric store and is sold by the yard.
The Warm Company- offers a line of Steam a Seam. This line can be found at your local craft store and is sold in package form. They offer a line of sheets and smaller sizes.
I believe that all brands can be purchased on line. I hope that helps get your needles moving! Keep me posted on your pillow project, I would love to see it when done!

I love this and can’t wait to try it! I featured it on my blog today, just wanted to let you know.

how can I download the pattern for the peacock pillow
Hello Teresa,
Try it again. Since so many were having trouble downloading from scribd. So, I have uploaded again and given it a separate page on the blog. I hope you enjoy it and share pictures of the final pillow.
