Flexible Tape Measure

sewing tool

A long flexible ruler. It consists of a ribbon of cloth, plastic, fiber glass, or metal strip with linear-measurement markings.

This is one of the most used tools in your sewing basket. The flexible properties of this ruler makes it perfect for measuring around the body.

Take a few quick measurements before you start your project. The Sewing Loft

Tape Measure Basics-

  • Size: Vary in size however the standard tape measure is about 5/8″ wide and 60″ long.
  • What it does: Flexes and conforms around any non flat surface or object to provide an accurate measurement.
  • Quick Tip: A flexible tape measure can stretch over time from being pulled too tight or being wrapped onto itself. It is best to do a once a year check against a plastic ruler or yardstick.
  • Where to buy: You can grab a flexible tape measure at your local quilt shop or here on line.
