Free Motion Stitching -Hands-on class
This hands-on class focus on the basics of free-motion stitching.
The goal is to get students to think beyond the quilt. Students will learn how to create stylized lines and draw with thread on a standard sewing machine. This is not a quilting class. Class highlights these special accessories: Open Toe free motion foot, double side fusible, quilting gloves, and wash away stabilizer.
Class size: maximum of 20 students
Duration: 3-hour class
Materials/equipment required: Students must arrive with a sewing machine & all that makes it run, scrap testing fabric, thread, and a new needle with a few extras just in case.
Skill level: Basic sewing skills and machine setup.
Fee: Pricing is available upon request to qualifying dealers.
**This class can be extended into a full day 7 hour workshop where students complete a full project. Inquire for more details.
Presser Feet Knowledge – Hands-on class
This hands-on class focus on the power of specialty accessory feet. I will show you just how much these feet can improve your sewing in class. Students will learn how to set up foot on their sewing machine, use the foot in sewing, and easy tips to ensure success. Shop or guild can select 3 specialty feet to be demonstrated in class. Project options and supplies will be determined by presser foot selection and finalized in the contract agreement.
Class size: maximum of 20 students
Duration: 3 hours
Materials/equipment required: Students must arrive with a sewing machine & all that makes it run, scrap testing fabric, thread, and a new needle with a few extras just in case. Presser feet will be required for class participation.
Skill level: Basic sewing skills and machine setup.
Fee: Pricing is available upon request to qualifying dealers.
Pattern Make & Take – Workshop
I also offer a hands-on workshop based on any of my available patterns. I will work with you so that you can put together a kit including all of the materials needed to complete the project, along with the pattern itself. Then I’ll guide your students through the project, one step at a time! Contact me if you’d like me to set up a class based on this option.
Class size: maximum of 20 students
Duration: 3 hours
Materials/equipment required: Supplies vary, depending on the pattern – each student will need a full pattern kit including all materials and the pattern itself. They will also need to have a sewing machine provided by the shop or bring their own.
Skill level: Confident beginner to intermediate.
Fee: Pricing is available upon request to qualifying dealers.
Experience your Destiny Workshop
Students will get up close and personal with their BabyLock Destiny in this hands on workshop. We will review, practice and perfect skill knowledge of the specialty features this amazing machine offers. From laser beams to custom embroidery, all will be covered. Attends will leave workshop with a clear understanding of their machine functions and the confidence to layer these tools into their everyday sewing.
Class size: maximum of 15 students
Duration: 7 hours
Materials/equipment required: Attends will need to bring their Destiny/Destiny II, embroidery component with 5″ x 7″ hoop, scanning frame, specialty foot assortment, treasure chest, plus additional supplies.
Skill level: Intermediate
Fee: Pricing is available upon request to qualifying dealers.
Workshop & Classroom Requirements:
- 1 table for teaching materials
- Half a table of workspace for each student
- At least 2 irons and ironing stations, appropriate electrical cords/extensions, and outlet strips to accommodate the class.
- A demonstration machine and standard projector set-up for demonstration purposes for me to use in class are helpful.
