noun
- the act of measuring.
- a measured dimension.
- extent, size, etc., ascertained by measuring.
- a system of measuring or measures
A measurement is a very important thing in the sewing world! Get a bad one and your whole dress might not fit you! Taking accurate measurements is something every seamstress must learn, from cutting fabrics for quilt blocks to measuring a body for a new garment.
Measurement Stats-
- Standards: Common measurements needed for pattern sizing are bust, waist, hip and length.
- How to take: Wrap a standard flexible tape measure around the area to be measured. Be sure to keep the tape measure level to the floor for an accurate measurement.
- Where to buy: A flexible tape measure can be purchased at your local quilt shop or here on line.
