I can hardly believe it’s time to share the final Save the Bees block! This quilt along has been so much fun to share with you. This quilt block is slightly different than the others but I promise, it’s just as cute!
Jacquelynne from The Art of Home designed this quilt to have a whimsical feel and honestly, it is a perfect fit for my sewing style. Each block is designed to be pieced and hand appliqued but instead, I infused some free motion quilting into the mix.
Supplies:
- Save The Bees pattern
- Dear Diary Fat Quarter Pack
- Iron
- Sewing Machine
- Basic Sewing Supplies
*Fabrics used in block include Dear Diary from Minki Kim and a few scrap pieces from my stash.
This month was all about piecing and half square rectangles. After a few quick rolls across the cutting board I was ready to sit down and sew.
Once my pieces were cut, it was all about stitching those HSR’s. If you have never made them before be sure to check out Jacquelynne’s quick video. She will help you take the tricky out of the process.
After that, this block is a breeze to stitch together. Just follow the instructions row by row to complete let your bee. I added a few circle appliques and free motion stitching for the antennas and my block was complete. All that was left was trimming it square.
Okay, enough with the making details, let’s fast forward and take a closer look at this months finished Save the Bees block.
