It’s time for our final block in the I Love Home Quilt series. This simple sew along with Jacquelynne from The Art of Home, has been so much fun! Each month I am sharing a few pictures of my block in progress and host a giveaway. Click here to see my previous blocks.
The quilt project is designed to be hand appliqued but I just had to infuse my style and layer on some free motion quilting.
Supplies:
- I love home pattern
- Assorted fabrics
- Double sided fusible
- Sewing machine
- Iron
- Open toe free motion foot
- Frixion marking pen
- Basic Sewing Supplies
*Fabrics used in block include Patrick Loose Christmas Cheer and a few batiks.
This month’s I Love Home quilt block has two oversized flowers and I used my free motion foot to add additional details. Sometimes it is hard to get started with this type of sewing so for anyone wanting to give it a try but nervous to start, I suggest drawing your lines first. I like to use a Frixion, a heat erasing pen, but always give it a quick test before just diving in.
I love the way the Medium Delft Blue Aurifil thread jumps off the colorful prints and really outlines the design.
Each layer of the applique design gave me an opportunity to add my version of character. Just stitch away and clip the thread tails when finished. I love the way it turned out.
