Today, I am going to share an easy technique –
Reverse applique!
This project is for all levels.
Skill Level- 1 Button
In all seriousness, if you can stitch on the machine, you can reverse appliqué.
Materials:
- scrap fabric
- sewing machine
- thread
Basic Instructions:
- To start, stitch your under layer to the back side of your fabric. (for my example, I also attached an additional layer of denim.)
- Draw your appliqué design with a disappearing pen and on the right side of your fabric straight stitch all around the design. **Tip- be sure that your design is large enough to expose the under layer when everything is cut away.
- After stitching your design, it is time to iron that disappearing ink away!
- To reveal the reverse appliqué, trim away the upper layer of fabric with a small pair of scissors. You want to trim the fabric on the inside of the design; leaving about 1/8″ of seam allowance from the stitch line.
