With so much excitement over last week’s Lucky Shamrock quilt block, I could hardly wait to share this week’s design. Say hello to the Leprechaun quilt block!
According to Irish folklore, Leprechauns are magical fairies that tend to be little tricksters and have their very own pot of gold! Since so many of you reached out to let me know how much you enjoyed the Shamrock block last week, I thought this little guy needed to join the party.
Leprechaun Quilt Block Details
The Leprechaun quilt block is available in two different finished sizes.
- 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm)
- 12″ x 12″ (33 x 33 cm)
Material & Tool Supply List:
- Assorted Scraps: Green, Black, Orange, Tan, & Background Prints
- Cutting mat/ Rotary cutter/ Quilt ruler
- Heat erasing marking tool
- Spray starch
This patchwork block highlights straight sewing construction with smaller pieces. Correction, there are several smaller pieces on the 6″ finished block!
At times, smaller pieces can be tricky for newbie quilters and that’s why I am giving this block a skill level rating perfect for the confident beginner. *Note that the 6″ finished block requires 3/4″ wide-cut pieces.
The pattern is available in an instant download pdf in my shop. It includes 2 finished sizes, step-by-step instructions with illustrations, and is perfect for using your scraps.

For all of you that have reached out along the way, I thank you for your kind words of encouragement, block requests, and ask that you please keep them coming! I love reading your notes and seeing your blocks stitched up.
If you happen to share a few snapshots of your Leprechaun quilt blocks on social media, please tag them with the hashtags #Blocks2Quilt and #TheSewingLoft when posting. This way, I can find them and celebrate your sewing success!
