I’m excited to share this week’s new Blocks 2 Quilt design and am hoping that the luck of the Irish is brushing off on everyone. Allow me to introduce the Lucky Shamrock quilt block.
Even if you don’t have red hair, freckles and come from Irish lineage, you have to agree, this little quilt block is adorable! The simple patchwork construction is perfect for all skill levels and makes it beyond scrap friendly.
Lucky Shamrock Details
The Lucky Shamrock quilt block is available in two different finished sizes.

This block is perfect for using all of your green fabric leftovers and if you have enough, I think would be adorable in a full quilt. Here is a quick quilt idea to get your creative wheels turning.
To create the complete quilt top pictured you will need:
- 3 1/4 yards of assorted green scraps
- 1 yard of gold fabric
- 2 1/4 yards of white background fabric
At first glance, some new quilters might be worried about creating the stem and getting things lined up just right. So, I put together a quick video to show you how. I promise, it’s really easy and my cutting instructions will help keep you on track.
Remember that each of my blocks offered in the Blocks 2 Quilt series require no special rulers or templates!
The pattern is available in an instant download pdf in my shop. It includes 2 finished sizes, step-by-step instructions with illustrations, and is perfect for using your scraps.

Although you say this block is free, at checkout there is a $3.50 charge?

Hello Sylvia,
Thanks for your note. Each block is offered free for a limited time, one week to be specific. After that, it is available for purchase in my shop. Luckily, the series is ongoing so you will have plenty of time to download free blocks in the future. I suggest you check back each week or sign up for my newsletter for the weekly reminder to download.
