October is here, and with it comes crisp air, cozy vibes, and a color that practically glows with warmth and energy—orange! Whether you love it bold and bright or muted and spicy, this month’s sewing challenge is all about celebrating the many shades of this autumn superstar. Welcome to the Orange Crush Challenge!
What is the Orange Crush Challenge?
It’s a month-long invitation to dive into your stash, pull out every orange-hued fabric you can find, from pumpkin to paprika, rust to tangerine, and create something unique. Whether you’re stitching a quilt block, a table runner, a garment, or a tiny patchwork pumpkin, the only rule is: orange takes center stage.
How to join the challenge?
- Choose your project: Big or small, practical or whimsical—anything goes!
- Remember, the goal is to stitch every last inch of your stash, so no shopping trips allowed. Just you, your scraps, and your imagination.
- Feature orange: Use it as the main color, accent, or even in unexpected combinations (orange + teal? Yes, please).
- Share your progress with #ScrappyGirlsChallenge and tag me so I can cheer you on!
- To get the party started, we are including a free printable project sheet. Simply download and print at home.
Why Orange?
Orange is the color of warmth, creativity, and joy. It’s bold, it’s playful, and it’s often overlooked in favor of its more neutral cousins. This challenge is your chance to let orange shine and maybe fall in love with it all over again.
Need Some Inspiration?
We have you covered with an amazing round-up of orange-infused projects. See the list here.
