I love trying new recipes but cooking is another thing entirely. Really, I have more of a love-hate relationship with cooking. Don’t get my wrong, I love the way the house fills up with yummy of fresh baked anything but sometimes I struggle to make that happen. That’s why I’m so excited to share this new pattern, the Yummo oven mitt.
I’ve partnered together with Nancy’s Notions to create something fun to keep us all inspired while in the kitchen. This double sided oven mitt is sure to keep our hands out of harms way while cooking and the cut applique is adorable to look out while hanging on the oven handle.
The project includes raw edge applique, some free motion stitching and basic quilting. To help make the most of my time, I gather all supplies before sitting down to sew.
Yummo Oven Mitt Supplies:
- Yummo Oven Mitt Pattern & Template
- 1/4 yd main fabric
- 1/4 yd lining fabric
- 1/4 yd pocket fabric
- assorted scraps
- 2 3/4 yds of contrast binding
- 1/2 yd Insul-Bright
- 10″ square of paper backed fusible
- Creative Quilt Binding Template
- heat erasing marking tool
- pressing cloth
- basic sewing supplies
Once I had everything in hand, it was time to get started.
I made quick work of the project by cutting out the applique and just diving in. Since I’m a complete sucker for sweets, just looking at that pie design made my mouth water.
Even though I put a lot of quilting on the main section, it went really fast. I just shifted my needle over to one side and used the edge of my presser foot as my guide. But the best part has to be using the Creative Quilt Bindings Template.
No matter what size project you are working on, this template takes the guess work out of binding. Let me show you what I mean in this quick video.
Be sure to head over to Nancy’s Notions to download the Yummo Oven Mitt pattern. Then, it’s time to start thinking about the next batch of cookies or pie to whip up!

I have been trying to print out Yummo oven mitt and wine bottle bag and I can not print out. I have contacted Nancy’s Notions and they say it is my printer, but I have no problems with printing out other just your oven mitt and the wine bag? Please advise.

Hello Patricia,
I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble accessing the pattern. I am unable to offer any additional advice on how to best trouble shoot the Nancy’s Notions site and think it is best if you contact them directly.
