It’s hard to imagine but it’s time to sign up for our last SWAP of 2023, the holiday ornament.
With each SWAP I organize, I’m amazed at the creativity within this wonderful community. Each package of happy mail contains a wealth of love and colorful fabric goodness. Two fabric-loving friends exchange these packages, and they truly appreciate it. By joining a SWAP organized by The Sewing Loft, you’ll partner with someone who shares your passion, understands that creativity can get messy, and totally understands the difficulty of discarding those small fabric scraps!
Now to be fair, the word holiday can hold a different meaning for different folks and this SWAP is not exclusive to Christmas. Instead, we want to celebrate each and every holiday. An ornament or bauble is considered a small accessory, article, or detail used to beautify the appearance of something to which it is added. Honestly, that could be anything!
Okay, let’s get to it!
Holiday Ornament SWAP Details:
WHAT/SIZE: Every participant will make and receive a handmade holiday ornament, bauble, or adornment. The pattern/style is “Maker’s choice” and can be anything that displays your creative point of view. For this SWAP it is highly encouraged that you keep your design “scrappy”.
WHEN: Sign Up’s are happening NOW through October 20th, 2023, or earlier.* All packages must be shipped to partners by November 26th, 2023.
WHERE: Everywhere! My SWAP events are open to everyone. Our goal is to pair participants with a partner in their general area to keep shipping costs low.
WHO: All fabric scrap lovers and stitchers are welcome! Please remember when joining any swap, your partner may have a different skill level and color assortment than you do.
Price: $5 per SWAP. This question comes up often and I want to clarify this right upfront. Running a SWAP of this size and caliber requires a tremendous amount of effort behind the screen. Events like this require many hours of organizing, emailing, and following up with participants. Not to mention being a SWAP Angel when a partner falls out at the last minute. This is the reason for the small fee.

Scrappy Fabric Group: As many of you know fostering community is very important to me. To help encourage this atmosphere, I have formed a private Facebook community to chat directly with you and offer a safe space for everyone to get together. Inside the group, you can share projects you are working on or have finished, meet and get to know the members from around the world, share inspiration, and participate in additional group activities. Here is how the SWAP will work:
You can sign up for the Holiday Ornament Swap until October 20th, 2023.* After signing up, we will send you a quick questionnaire to assist us in pairing you with the ideal sewing buddy. Then I’ll be digging in with my team and getting to work partnering you with the perfect sewing buddy. All participants will receive an email with their partner information by the end of the day, October 27th, 2023.
