Did you know that some of the most amazing sewing details are created by the change of a presser foot? I know what you’re thinking…. how can a simple piece of metal improve my sewing? Isn’t it my skill set that’s driving the bus? Well, that is partly true. Your skills are super important but the tools…. sometimes the tools make all the difference!
Now, we have already chatted about several different feet on the blog… zipper, teflon, roller, walking and even my favorite the monogram. But these do not even scratch the surface! So, allow me to introduce you to Sewing Machine Feet from A to Z with Steffani Lincecum. This is a free class on Craftsy that you can watch in your pj’s.
With this class you can explore many different types of presser feet and uses for each foot. Steffani shares examples and explores zipper feet in great detail. (I know many of you fear the zipper. Trust me, the tools help a bunch!)
For those of you interested in making ruffles, the gathering foot is your friend! This foot will help you create the ruffles in a flash and totally stress free! No more pulling threads or dealing with thread breakage in your project. Like I said, this foot will quickly become your bestie in the workroom!
The class also explores the Free Motion or Darning foot. This foot is quickly becoming one of my favorite’s in the tool box. I just love how easy it is to use and it really adds that personal touch to any project. Here is a quick doodle I transformed into stitching. Pretty cool if I do say so myself!
Plus, if you have a question or maybe have a funky looking foot in your sewing box you can upload a photo in the side bar and ask away. Between the other students in the class and Steffani your questions will be answered. The class offers an easy environment to learn and explore in- plus, don’t forget those pj’s.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab the coffee and sign up for Craftsy Free Sewing Machine Feet from A to Z class today. (no make up required)
