In the world of handmade crafts, few things blend practicality and charm as seamlessly as bowl cozies. These delightful fabric creations not only protect your hands from hot bowls but also add a touch of personality to your kitchen. Let’s share the warmth by swapping handmade bowl cozies!
If you’re someone who enjoys cooking or baking, you’re probably familiar with the struggle of trying to handle hot bowls without burning your hands. That’s where the bowl cozy comes in! Bowl cozies are a great way to protect your hands from heat and cold, and they’re incredibly easy to make.
Bowl cozies are essentially a little fabric pocket that slips under the bottom of a bowl. They’re made from heat-resistant materials like cotton or wool batting, which means they can be used for hot or cold items. Whether you’re microwaving some soup or chilling a bowl of ice cream, a bowl cozy will keep your hands safe and comfortable.
Using a bowl cozy couldn’t be easier. If you’re heating something up in the microwave or using it for a hot item, be sure to place the bowl in the cozy before putting it in the microwave. This way, you don’t have to worry about letting the ceramic bowl cool down before removing it. Similarly, if you’re using it for a cold item, you can slip the cozy over the bowl or pint of ice cream, and go about enjoying your treat, frost-free.
One of the best things about bowl cozies is how easy they are to make for every skill level. Even if you’re just starting your sewing journey, you can whip up a bowl cozy in just a few minutes. I even have a video class showing you how.
Now, let’s get to the fun part, the bowl cozy SWAP.

Please remember that a SWAP like this all about having fun. No one is putting your work under a microscope. Instead, I just ask that you take pride in your work by trimming off any loose threads and think about how the person receiving this special package will feel when opening it. Consider including a small treat, sewing notion, or even a mini bundle of scrap fabrics. I am sure it would be much appreciated by your partner!
