July arrives carrying sunshine on its shoulders, and the month’s color challenge is all about capturing that golden light. Welcome to the Golden Spectrum Challenge, a celebration of every shade of yellow, from soft buttercream to bold marigold, from vintage mustard to bright lemon zest.

What is the Golden Spectrum Challenge?
It’s a month-long invitation to dive into your stash, pull out every yellow fabric you can find, and create something with a little zest. Whether you’re stitching a quilt block, a table runner, minimalist home decor, or a heartfelt gift, the only rule is yellow plays a starring role.

How to join the challenge?
- Choose your project: Big or small, practical or whimsical—anything goes!
- Remember, the goal is to stitch every last inch of your stash, so no shopping trips allowed. Just you, your scraps, and your imagination.
- Feature shades of yellow: Use them as the main color for your statement piece.
- Share your progress in the Scrappy Girls Club with #ScrappyGirlsChallenge and tag me so I can cheer you on!
- To get the party started, we are including a free printable project sheet. Simply click below to download and print at home.

Why yellow for July?
Yellow is a color that refuses to whisper. Yellow energizes and reminds us of fresh blooms, cold lemonade, and life giving sunshine. It’s time to stitch with that same sense of optimism. Choose the hue that transforms even the simplest project into something bright and memorable. In a month filled with sunshine, it just feels right.

Need some inspiration? No worries, I get it! Here are a few of my favorite makes pulled straight from my stash.

Spring Tulips really pop in sunny yellow shades. In fact, many of my Blocks 2 Quilt look amazing in yellow. Be sure to check out the Sunburst, Sunflower, Honey Bee Hive, Bumblebee, Pineapple, and Daffodil Blocks below.

Honey Pot is another one of my favorite quilts. It is a simple patchwork block placed in an on-point layout. The best part: I had no idea the entire quilt was hiding in my stash!
