Keepin’ It Super Simple!
Let’s face it, with a last name like Valentine – It’s a big holiday in my house! So, I am starting my projects and thought that I would share a super simple one that will help eat up a few scraps.
Be Mine Bookmark
This project is for sewers all levels.
Skill Level- 1 Button
Materials:
- fabric scraps
- Mod Podge
- felt
- ribbon
- Cut 1 piece of fabric and 1 felt 6 1/2″ long x 2 1/4″ wide. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to your pressed fabric to ”stiffen” the fabric and give it more texture. Reserve felt for step 4.
- To personalize my bookmark, I created a small patch by layering felt and fabric. Then added a few decorative stitches found standard on “Ellie”. (love her!) Feel free to do this by hand. Get creative- maybe one large initial, a heart, xoxo… anything works! And if you don’t want to sew this part, print off something from clip art and Mod Podge it to the face of book mark. Let’s face it- Mod Podge Rocks!
- Position and stitch your patch to the face of your bookmark. I used straight stitch but feel free to use those fun stitches on your machine!
- Then layer the felt behind your front and sandwich your ribbon along the top center. Join all layers together with a simple stitch. Be sure to back-stitch over the ribbon for extra strength.
This is the perfect way to use up old left over fabric.
Remember, Keep It Super Simple!!

Wonder how long the mod Podge takes to dry? Do you have to iron it flat or smooth after putting the Mod Podge on? Great idea!
The length of dry time will depend on how much you MP you actually apply.
