It’s officially time to kick start the Blocks 2 Quilt series and could not be more excited to share the very first block. So let’s skip the small talk and just dive in.
No matter where you live in the states, January tends to be cloudy with a chance of mitten weather! So to embrace the season, I thought it might be fun to share a mitten quilt block.
Mitten Quilt Block Details
Finished Mitten Quilt blocks measure:
- 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm)
- 12″ x 12″ (33 x 33 cm)
Material & Tool Supply List:
- Assorted Scraps: Red, Blue & Background Prints
- Cutting mat/ Rotary cutter/ Quilt ruler
- Heat erasing marking tool
- Spray starch
I just love the sweet little heart in the center! This simple patchwork construction makes quick work of your time at the machine. This block is perfect for the confident beginner. Blocks are classified as a confident beginner because some of the cut pieces in the 6″ finished block are small in size.
The Mitten quilt block pattern is available for free until January 10, 2019, after that it will be available for purchase in the shop. Just click the button below, add the pattern to your cart and follow the prompts for check out.

Hello Heather – thank you for this wonderful series and the ability to get them at no charge. I went to the link and added the pattern to my cart. It will not allow me to checkout. It tells me I can’t checkout during preview and send me back to your home page. Any thoughts?

After checking out, you will receive a link with the pattern to download to your computer. Please remember that each block is only available for free for a limited time.
