Every time I turn on my computer I find something new to inspire me. Whether it’s to write a blog post, finish or start a new project, write a new tutorial or make something for someone I love, I find so much encouragement and motivation from others who share their ideas!
So, today I wanted to take a minute to share some of these fun finds with you…and since Mother’s Day is right around the corner:) I’m going to start with some of the special gift ideas that celebrate Mother & Child.
Who taught you to sew? Who do you think of every time you see a picture of that very first sewing project you finished, or remember the first time you had to pick out all your stitches:) It may be your mother or grandmother, a sister or an aunt…or a very good friend. We were all taught by someone…and now it’s our turn to share the traditions and joy of sewing!
Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Consider whipping up Mom a batch of these fun sugar cookies. You can even cheat and use the pre made dough from the grocery store. Just cut them out with a few of these sewing cookie cutters and decorate away. She will never know!

Give a nod to yesteryear with these vintage inspired notecards, journal and apron. Actually, for an extra special gift, wrap the cookies with an apron. Total brownie points!

Or stay top of mind everyday with these fun and sewing inspired flash drives. They are perfect for storing embroidery designs, downloaded PDF patterns and backing up files. I just love that they are available in different colors. That makes for easy organization in my world.

Whatever direction you go for don’t forget to celebrate, say thank you and inspire a new generation of passionate stitchers. Happy Mother’s Day to all!

Know what we older moms would like? We’d love to enter all the wonderful contests the sewing and crafting world offers, but many of us don’t use or want to use Facebook, twitter, or Instagram. If it would be possible to be eligible to win, I’d be so happy! At my age, I am decreasing my web presence (although I’ve taught on a forum of over 13,000 people for 3 years) so that my family won’t have to try to track down everything I “belong” to because it is the responsible thing to do, considering the fact that people my age die every day, and I am within 18 months of my mother’s age when she died. While I am still extremely active on the web, using Bloglovin to track all my favs, and Craftsy, and a host of other nice places to visit, as well as keeping up with my own sewing and designing many of my own patterns digitally, my income is very limited in my old age, so having an equal chance of winning a contest is perhaps a wee bit more important to me than it is to someone who can well afford all the fabrics, machines, and goodies. It would be lovely to be able to just compete on an equal basis. It would be just about the best Mother’s Day gift I could receive. Thanks for listening; I do enjoy your blog very much!
