Today, I am giving you a “sneak peak” of what lies ahead for National Sewing Month on The Sewing Loft.
Have you ever had a secret that you were just itching to share?
Well, this has been me for the past few months! September is National Sewing Month and I have been busy behind this screen preparing.
Signed into existence in 1982 by President Ronald Reagan, under Proclamation #4976, the month of September was declared to be National Sewing Month “In recognition of the importance of home sewing to our Nation.”
Further Proclamations state that “Tens of millions of Americans sew at home. Their efforts demonstrate the industry, the skill and the self-reliance which are so characteristic of this Nation.”
For a complete list of Proclamations and documents, please see National Sewing Month here.
Now, let’s get to the goods. You know, the fun part. To celebrate this month, I am hosting a series dedicated to highlight different tools of the trade.
Each week, special guests will share their favorite tool in the workroom. The tool can be anything outside of the trusty sewing machine. Some tools are sure to surprise you! And let’s be fair, what’s a fun series without a fab contest??
Since I can’t spill all the beans in one day, you’ll just have to wait until September 1st to find out all the details. Trust me, the guest list and prize packages are amazing. You will not be disappointed!
In the meantime, stop by the Facebook page and join the “If I were a sewing tool” game. The comments are amazing and I am loving learning about your favorite tools!
ps- notice the graphic? Well, the team at paper & Cake always knocks it out of the park for me! Love them!

In honor of National Sewing Month (which I didn’t know existed!) I am finally planning on learning how to sew! I have been wanting to learn forever, but I’m finally getting around to it in a couple weeks. I’m sure I’ll be visiting your blog frequently!
