Last week, I found myself shopping with my girls at my local Target for the basics… Little did I know that I would be walking out with a cool quilt storage container.
When I walked into the store, shopping for a quilt storage container was not even on my radar but when I rounded the corner and spotted this open weave basket, I was in love. I could not resist. The rustic color and open concept design was the perfect backdrop for my space but it got me thinking about alternative options.
Quilt Storage Container Ideas
Here are 8 fun out of the box quilt storage container ideas to help inspire you. I’m sure you even have a few of them at home!
- Open Basket-
Invite people to cuddle under your handy work with an open basket. I found this one at Target and am sure you can pretty much find them at your local store.
2. Curbside Redo–
Love the idea of turning a curbside find into a show stopper!
3. Quilt Ladder-
There is something so homey about an old ladder leaning against the wall filled with handmade goodness! Raid the garage, make one yourself or grab one here on line.
And if one little ladder is not enough- consider making the double width like my friend Lee from MayChappel. I’ve seen these babies in person and boy oh boy, am I jealous. Her dad made them!!
4. Console Table–
Most pieces in my house do double duty these days and this table is a beautiful example of just how amazing form & function can come together. Grab one here if you don’t have time to make one yourself.
5. Vertical Storage–
Transform the back of an old door into instant quilt storage with the help of towel rods. They are easy to install and very affordable.
6. Quilt Rack–
These racks are designed for form and function. They allow your quilts to hang freely on display and encourage others to grab them when they catch a chill. Racks range from decorative metal to simple wood, the options are endless.
Ever think about transforming an old window into a new table with a view? I love the idea and this DIY project can be a real conversation starter.
8. Shelf Hanger–
Hang your pretties up and add some shelf space to your wall with a shelf hanger.
So the next time you fold up your handmade treasures think about using a decorative quilt storage container and leaving them out in the open for everyone to enjoy!

This is truly wonderful.
I never once thought of putting my quilts on display. Even my gorgeous hand painted ones are hidden in cupboards. I absolutely adore patchwork! And by the way the cushions are truly beautiful!

Baby changing tables are awsome, especially Jenny Lind desighs. I have two of them. One can easily find one at a thrift shop for a reasonable price. This idea I found in a quilt magazine.

I have a pie safe in my family room. Perfect for storing large quilts and small table toppers. Since the sun does come in that room, I roll my quilts wrong side out, to protect them from the sun’s rays.

I am overwhelmed that “you” would make all these incredibly beautiful quilts to store. visibly or …. . in . drawers Can’t wrap my head around that they are not being used.

Oh, Sharan, Please do not misunderstand, they are used, loved, and snuggled under often but when not in use, they must be stored somewhere. These are just a few ideas on how to store them while still showcasing the amazing colors.
