There is just something about sewing with friends that makes me feel good. So, when Jacquelynne from The Art of Home asked me to join the fun in the Save The Bees quilt block of the month, I was all in! Just like last year with the I love Home quilt, each month I will share a few pictures of my quit block and host a giveaway. I hope that you will join the fun and sign up for the free pattern to stitch along with us.
The Save the Bees quilt is so whimsical and really lends itself to my personal style. Each block is designed to be hand appliqued but I just had to infuse my style and layer on the free motion quilting.
Supplies:
- Save The Bees pattern
- Dear Diary Fat Quarter Pack
- Double sided fusible
- Open toe free motion foot
- Quilting Ruler
- Iron
- Sewing Machine
- Basic Sewing Supplies
*Fabrics used in block include Dear Diary from Minki Kim and a few scrap pieces from my stash.
To keep the details fun, I selected 3 different thread colors to outline the design in free motion stitching. I used the thread to outline the bee and adore the way the wings turned out.
After the applique was all set, it was time to dive into the details of the block. I pulled a few fabrics from my pile and starting cutting. While most came from the Dear Diary collection, the pink was from my stash. Thanks to the laser beam guide and my Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmer, the HST’s went together fast.
The ruler makes cutting a breeze. Let’s take a quick look at it in action!
Okay, enough with the making details, let’s fast forward and take a look at it finished. It’s really looks so cute!
