Thread Head – Sewing Humor
Hey Thread Heads! This is TJ from Studio Mailbox, thanks for having me. I thought it might be time for us to get to know each other a little better. I’ve been jumping in here on the first Friday of each month, yet haven’t really connected with you guys. I’m sorry about that. I’ve been on a blogging hiatus while my family transferred from our former home in Germany. WOW what a transition it’s been! It’s taken more than a year for us to get used to life back in the USA.
I thought you might like a like a little back story on the glass skull in the MEME above. This is one of those finds I made my husband carry back home from our old German flea marketing adventures. Imagine a huffing and puffing America mother pushing a stroller through a packed crowd while her ever supportive husband was dragging a store mannequin, German typewriter, glass head, lead type, wooden ornaments, small pieces of furniture – you get the idea! This was one of many zany things I would find and decide that I could no longer live without. Once you see something like this you can hardly un-see it. Sadly, many of these things were left behind with my old European life but some of them luckily made their way back with me here to Minnesota.
And Gutermann thread? That’s a German standard. But the style of their spools makes me chuckle. C’mon! They are SO much like the old styrofoam hair rollers we used to get perms with in the 80’s! That German glass skull and the German thread had to come together to become Thread Head. (Too bad I had to use my son’s Play-Doh to set up this shot. Look closely as to how I got the thread to stick to the glass! Shhhht! This is TSL exclusive insider info!)
We’ve all heard of Dead Heads and bed head – it’s time for the people who sew to stand up and take their place in history. Let’s be the world’s first thread heads! We really should make membership cards…
Please use the buttons below to share the love if you’re a card-carrying member! Thanks for having me and see you next month. My goal is to have you in stitches!! xx tj

Sounds to me that you are A LOT like me and not only a “THREAD HEAD” but a yard/garage sale/flea market junkie!!!! Can JUST imagine your loving hubs toting all that back home for you!!!! I’ve just recently “acquired” a totally loving and supportive (soon to be) hubs and can just see him doing the same thing, all the while not saying a WORD about how much I’ve spend on my zany finds!!! LOL!!! I say SISTER’S UNITE!!!!

I am definitely a thread head! Love the picture. I had a college roommate that has a head like that from Pier1 around here. I love collecting different thread colors!

I saw this after the current meme and then saw it again today after I was looking at all your memes (which I love) and this one just cracks me up. I have a lot of these spools, both Gutermann and Sulky embroider and never connected the curlers, but I think from now on I won’t be able to look at the thread spools without that connection. lol
