Last week I shared the Lemonade Spritzer block and I want to keep the summer theme going with a Summer Ice Pop Quilt Block, aka- popsicle!
These ice-cold treats really should be considered an honorary food group during the height of summer. Since I need to mind the waistline, I thought I’d stitch a few up instead of polishing a few off.
Summer Ice Pop Quilt Block
Each finished Summer Ice Pop quilt block measures-
- 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm)
- 12″ x 12″ (33 x 33 cm)
Material & Tool Supply List:
- Assorted Scraps: Orange, Pink & Background Prints
- Cutting mat/ Rotary cutter/ Quilt ruler
- Heat erasing marking tool
- Spray starch
- Basic Sewing Supplies
Be sure to follow the instructions for pressing. Seriously, many have asked how I get my blocks to lay so flat. Well, the answer is simple, its all about the pressing! Plus, I use a few pumps of my favorite spray by Soak- Flatter.
Similar to the Sunfish quilt block, the Summer Ice Pop quilt block is made with a simple patchwork construction that highlights half-square triangles and strip piecing. It is the perfect skill builder for the beginner.
This week you can add the Summer Ice Pop quilt block pattern to your library for free after that, it will be available for sale in the shop.
Keep your eyes peeled because in the next few weeks this sweet block will have a few more summery friends coming to join the fun. These blocks can be made in any color story you can dream up and will look great together. I can’t wait to see what fabrics you stitch them up in.
