Some of my favorite childhood memories include fishing on the dock and out in the deep blue sea with my Grandfather. These times were beyond special and I’m hoping to keep them front and center with the Sunfish quilt block.
He was beyond patient with me and even baited the hook more times then he would have liked to admit but the best part was just being together. We would sit all day just hoping to get a little tug on the line.
Most of the fish we caught were Sunfish or “sunnies”. They were always so beautiful in color and I’m hoping the stripe center in this block will help you create your own amazing version.
Sunfish Quilt Block Details:
Each finished Sunfish quilt block measures-
- 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm)
- 12″ x 12″ (33 x 33 cm)
Material & Tool Supply List:
- Assorted Scraps: Blue, Yellow & Background Prints
- Cutting mat/ Rotary cutter/ Quilt ruler
- Heat erasing marking tool
- Spray starch
- Basic Sewing Supplies
This block is a simple patchwork construction that highlights half square triangles and strip piecing. It is the perfect skill builder for the beginner.
