Flexible Tape Measure
sewing tool
A long flexible ruler. It consists of a ribbon of cloth, plastic, fiber glass, or metal strip with linear-measurement markings.
This is one of the most used tools in your sewing basket. The flexible properties of this ruler makes it perfect for measuring around the body.
Tape Measure Basics-
- Size: Vary in size however the standard tape measure is about 5/8″ wide and 60″ long.
- What it does: Flexes and conforms around any non flat surface or object to provide an accurate measurement.
- Quick Tip: A flexible tape measure can stretch over time from being pulled too tight or being wrapped onto itself. It is best to do a once a year check against a plastic ruler or yardstick.
- Where to buy: You can grab a flexible tape measure at your local quilt shop or here on line.
