Today’s WIP is totally random. It was late Monday night and for some strange reason I could not sleep. I just kept rehashing a few crazy things that happened during the day and could not find peace. After tossing and turning and listening to the dog snore for about an hour, I finally decided to get up. (Ever have one of these nights?)
Well, I was determined not to waste the insomnia. So, I snuck down to into the workroom determined that I would not just sit behind the computer typing away or getting lost on Pinterest. No, instead I went straight to work on a totally unneeded project.
You see, I stumbled across this post by Crazy Mom Quilts and for some reason I couldn’t shake it. I just loved so many things about it. Scraps, paper and mindless sewing- it was perfect for a late night sew session. So, I stitched the night away and created these pretties. The question is – what will I do with them? These are my latest UFO!
For many of us UFO’s are just part of the creative process. We make, get bored and move on but how can I do that when earlier on Monday we all chatted about finishing UFO’s?
Please help me…. What do you think I should make with them?
Do I…
a.) keep stitching and making more
b.) turn them into something small
c.) put them in a zip lock and call it a UFO for another day
Suggestions please!

Hi Heather! I think you should keep going…
I suggest cutting your strips and papers, place in a container, keep by your sewing machine…
Use this new as a leader-ender project while sewing all your other stuff…
You will be surprised how quickly they work up!
Will help you work on your UFOS while sewing this cute little project!
Take care, Leslie

I love the idea of having the triangles pre cut and ready to go. I might give it a go.

Hi! I also have that kind of insomnia nights but I try to listen to a quiet radio program and try to sleep in case I can’t I wait till the first light in the morning (where there’s the best light to stitch) and sew. My suggestion about the triangle project depends on how many triangles you have. If you have many then you can sew them into a quilt if only a few then they can be a pillow or a small bag, for example. I hope my suggestions help you. Love!

Hello Heather, I have those times also, but I make HST, lots of them from my leftover bins……But I saw a cute pincushion made from triangles like yours, they are cute. And I feel that that I do not have UFO, but BSH, Blocks Seeking a Home…I have been taking any blocks that I have made, and have started a Mug Rug stash….Never know when I will need a gift in a hurry, or if someone visits and admires any of my work, I will send them home with one of my rugs……

I like the idea of calling them BSH. I might need to rename them while working on more.

Personally, I’d put them in a zip loc and save them for another day when you need something mindless to do again…then make something bigger out of them! They are crazy triangles and making crazy squares is the mindless sewing to play with someday and are a WIP which is always waiting!!!

If you make more, you can turn them into a really cool bulletin board by sewing them together except for the top edge of each one that face “up” to put pictures in, or whatever strikes your fancy. Or you can make enough to make a makeup (or doodad) bag and put a zipper in it. These are really fun.

Keep going girl! This is too pretty to let it die in a plastic bag.

A summer table runner would be beautiful with this pattern.

I wish I joined you when I was tossing and turning last night. Great idea! Why not put them in a bin instead of a bag, so they’re waiting for you when inspiration strikes? Love them! , ,
