Are you ready for some fun and a chance to make a new friend? Well, look no further because the 2024 Zipper Bag SWAP is officially kicking off today!

I absolutely love hosting sewing SWAPs and weekend retreats. They’re the perfect opportunity to connect with others who share our passion for creativity, understand that sewing is messy, and know the struggle of parting with even the smallest fabric scrap. So, let’s dive into the details and get ready to create something special!

Zipper Bag SWAP Details

WHAT/SIZE: Each participant will make and receive a handmade zipper bag. The pattern and style are entirely up to you, so feel free to showcase your unique creative flair. This year, we’re encouraging a “scrappy” theme, so use those fabric scraps! While you can reach out to your partner for preferences, the finished bag can be any size you like.

WHEN: Sign-ups are open NOW through August 18th, 2024, or until slots are filled.* Partner emails will be sent by August 23rd, 2024, and all packages must be shipped to partners by September 29th, 2024.

WHERE: Everywhere! This SWAP is open to participants worldwide. We’ll do our best to pair you with someone in your general area to keep shipping costs in check.

WHO: All fabric scrap lovers and stitchers are welcome! Remember, your partner might have a different skill level, but that’s part of the fun. Along the way, I’ll share helpful hints, technique-based tutorials, and the supportive community atmosphere means you’ll always have someone to ask for help.

PRICE: $5 per SWAP – This small fee helps cover the significant effort behind organizing such a large event. From countless hours of organizing and emailing to stepping in as a SWAP Angel when a partner drops out, there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes.

How the Zipper Bag SWAP Works

1. Sign Up: The Zipper Bag SWAP is open for sign-ups until August 18th, 2024.* After signing up, you’ll receive a quick questionnaire to help me match you with the perfect sewing buddy.
2. Get Paired: My team and I will work hard to pair you with a great partner. You’ll receive an email with your partner’s information by the end of the day on August 23rd, 2024.
3. Create and Send: Start crafting your unique zipper bag and make sure to have it postmarked by September 29th, 2024.
