February 29th is a strangely fun day that only comes around once every 4 years. Believe me, I know, my oldest was born on this rare day.
There are many urband legends that surround this extra calendar.
Like-
- that beans and peas planted during a leap year would “grow the wrong way” (who knows what that means)
- Leap year was never a good sheep year.
- Women can propose marriage.
- Babies born on leap day would be sickly and hard to raise.
And why do you ask do we have an extra day? Â Well, after doing some research I have learned that today was added to the calendar to align the human measurements of time more closely with mother nature. Â That’s funny right? Â Considering that in early years, fooling around with the calendar was believed to throw mother nature in a tail spin.
Well, I can say with certainty that the urban legend of having a “Leap Day” baby also know as  “leapings” or “leapers”  will not bring you a sickly child or hard to raise crazy tot!  My girl is sweet as pie and happy to turn 3 today!
Do you know any Leapings or Leapers? If so, when do they celebrate their birthday? We celebrate on March 1st. Â The day after the 28th.
Happy Birthday Lady A!!

Hmm, I’ll have to watch my beans and peas this year and see how they turn out. I wonder what “the wrong way” means!
Did your leaping turn 4 this year? 2008 was the last leap year.
