Wow, the response to last week’s Pretty Bird block was amazing! So many of you downloaded it and instantly started stitching, it was so inspiring. To keep the theme going, I created a birdhouse quilt block so all of the amazing birds could have a place to call home!
Now, I am still improving my backyard to attract birds but I have yet to include a house. Sure I can see nests in the trees but nothing man-made.
I did however just purchase a bat box. I’m sure some of you might cringe but they fascinate me! At dusk, I am always the first in my family to spot them flying overhead. The best part is that they LOVE mosquitoes. They can actually eat between 6,000 & 8,000 mosquitoes a night. (that my friends is a game-changer for my backyard!)
Birdhouse Quilt Block
The Birdhouse quilt block is available in two finished sizes that measure:

Hi Heather:
Have you made a pattern for your little icon of a bird’s nest and mama bird sitting atop it? As a bird watcher and lover, I wish you would.
Heather says
That is a wonderful idea, Roxanna. Consider it on my list for 2021.

I never thought about a bat box – what a great idea! We live in a small rural town in Missouri and talk about mosquitoes!!! That would surely help… thanks for the idea and for the adorable birdhouse block.

For some reason I cannot access this as a free pattern. I could get a watering can pattern for free, but the birdhouse was $3.50. Did I miss the deadline? Thank you for your cute patterns! I look forward to your blog and emails!
