Canning Jar Quilt Block | Blocks 2 Quilt

With the calendar shifting to September, it’s clear cooler weather is on the way. That means it’s time to start thinking about the harvest season and canning. To honor this tradition, this week’s design is the Canning Jar quilt block.

While I personally do not can any fruits or veggies, I am always amazed with my friends who do.

Canning Jar Quilt Block

The Canning Jar quilt block is available in two finished sizes that measure:

• 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm)
• 12″ x 12″ (33 x 33 cm)

Materials & Supplies:

• Assorted Fabrics: Red, Pink, Blue, Brown and Background Prints
• Cutting mat/ Rotary cutter/ Quilt ruler
• Heat erasing marking tool
• Spray starch
• Flatter Spray
• Sewing Machine

Now even though I made my jar in berry colors, I can imagine this block being stitched up in all different colors. Think about all the different things that folks can. From peaches to pickles, there are so many options!

Like many of the other blocks included in my Blocks 2 Quilt series, this patchwork quilt block is easy to make, requires no special tools, templates, or rulers. To show you just how easy, I put together this quick video.

There are a few smaller sized pieces required on the 6″ finished block so please keep that in mind when sewing.
