Last week, I shared the first block in the Starry Night Quilt series and I could not be more excited to share this series each month but today I have a twist.
Each month I will be sewing along with you and creating another version made just from scraps. Not only will this help me clean out some of my some of my smaller scraps but it will allow me to add another quilt to my pile. (another personal goal)
Scrappy Starry Night Block 1
Since I have a fair amount of Kona white left over from the original quilt and a large chunk of storm, I will be making these two colors my blenders. You will find them floating around different blocks along the way.
The first block was an easy 9 patch and here is the basic layout. You can find more information, directions and tips here.
Remember, you need to make 2 blocks for the final quilt layout. Since my finished quilt is all about scrappy style, I decided to switch up my fabric placement along the way.
Scrappy Starry Night Quilt Quick Tips:
- Don’t have large scraps? Learn how to turn smaller scraps into fabric.
- Keep your 1/4″ seams straight as an arrow with this simple tip.
- Starch your fabric to prevent twisting.
- Find the perfect spool of thread and have fun with it!

Can this quilt pattern be used by my quilt guild? May I make copies each month and hand them out as we all make our quilts along with you?!??

Hello Sharon,
Yes, feel free to use it with your guild. I just ask that you share where it is from/who designed it and send me a few pictures along the way. I would love to see your progress.
