September is the month that summer blushes into fall. This month, we’re celebrating that beautiful transition with a palette that moves from petal pink to roseberry to magenta sunset to cranberry velvet. It’s romantic, berry‑rich, and full of the gentle warmth your projects love to soak up.
Welcome to Pretty in Pink – Blushing Into Fall, our September color challenge designed to inspire softness, depth, and a little seasonal glow.

What is the Pretty in Pink Challenge?
It’s a month-long invitation to dive into your stash, pull out every pink fabric you can find, and create something with a little passion. Whether you’re stitching a quilt block, a table runner, minimalist home decor, or a heartfelt gift, the only rule is pink plays a starring role.

How to join the challenge?
- Choose your project: Big or small, practical or whimsical—anything goes!
- Remember, the goal is to stitch every last inch of your stash, so no shopping trips allowed. Just you, your scraps, and your imagination.
- Feature shades of pink: Use them as the main color for your statement piece.
- Share your progress in the Scrappy Girls Club with #ScrappyGirlsChallenge and tag me so I can cheer you on!

Why pink for September?
Pink is often thought of as a spring or summer shade, but we are flipping the script. Pink for autumn can deepen and mellow. It blushes into fall. These tones carry the last warmth of summer while hinting at the cozy season ahead—making them perfect for transitional sewing. Think of the last summer berries ready to be made into jam, Thanksgiving feasts serving cranberries, and the fading summer flower petals.

Many of my Blocks 2 Quilt look amazing in pink. Be sure to check out the Canning Jar, Blooming Lily, Thread Spool, Watering Can, Lemonade Spritzer, and Birdhouse blocks.

Pink carries extra meaning as we approach October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, reminding us that creativity and compassion often share the same color. Read more about the Drop Zone Bag I stitched up last October in rich shades of pink.
