Hello friends of first Fridays. It’s your friend TJ from Studio Mailbox coming to you this month on the cusp of the great American party known as the 4th of July. Since it’s a national holiday I’ll keep it short and sweet while still delivering some sewing inspiration and smiles.
For the nearly ten years that I lived outside the United States this was the event I missed more than anything. I love American flags, folk art, and Americana inspired craft. I’ve got a Patriotic Expressions Pinterest Board that I’m inviting you to visit. Mark my words, some day I’m going to create one of those ribbon and bejeweled bohemian style flags. My board has a lot of Union Jack pins as well, my homage to the years I lived among the English. Then again I also sneaked in a few random pins that may or may not include Joan Jett and Wonder Woman so don’t say I didn’t warn you.
If unlike me you actually want to make something instead of sitting around pinning and thinking about it, check out Heather’s Ruffle Flag Pillow or handmade USA postcards. Last but not least this mini wreath pin from The Scrap Shoppe Blog looks like the perfect hostess gift. Now there are no excuses to show up at the neighbor’s BBQ empty handed.
Whatever you get up to, here’s wishing you a safe and joyous weekend!
