Happy Friday, it’s time for this weeks installment of our Quiltologie Mini Mania summer series. We are Stepping Up our quilting techniques with this weeks design!
The Quiltologie Mini Mania Stepping Up quilt kit is made by Fabric Editions and comes complete with all fabrics.
Including:
- white on white print for ground
- pink, yellow, turquoise and gray prints
- background fabric & binding
Additional Supplies Needed:
- cotton batting
- rotary cutter & cutting mat
- quilting ruler
- fine pins
- sewing machine
- iron & ironing board
- quilting foot with guide
The Stepping Up mini quilt finishes at 15 1/2″ x 21 1/2″. It is designed to help you speed through the process of all those small pieces and I even have a great tip to show improve your accuracy!
To give my quilt a completely different feel, I dug into my fabric stash and pulled a bunch of grays. I really wanted to step away from the whites on this quilt and leaned more towards the monochromatic side.
I just loved the way the fabrics looked all lined up on my mat. It was just begging to be stitched up!
After piecing my blocks together, I gave everything a good pressing before starting the final assembly.
Thanks to the help of my quilting foot and fine tip pins my points lined up perfectly! Now, let’s take a look at my mini stitched up.
Stepping Up Mini Quilt
The splash of orange really pops off the gray fabrics and is a nice change from my standard fabric pulls.
Now that I have it stitched up, I need to think about quilting. To be truthful, I’m not really sure what direction I want to go with this one. My daughter told me it’s screaming Halloween and now that she said it, I sort of agree with her. It makes me want to layer some applique designs.
Maybe a haunted house or something fun. Until I decide, finishing this mini is gonna be on hold.
