It was so fun to kick off our Sweet On You mystery quilt along with those sweet hearts. They were such simple blocks and a great win at the machine for every skill level. Now, it’s time to kick it up a notch with block two, the Twisted Tulip.
Twisted Tulip is a playful take on one of my favorite springtime flowers. I added patch of printed Cuddle® to the center for texture and just love the way it turned out.
Twisted Tulip Details:
- Block size: 9″ finished
- Number of blocks: 6
Supply List:
- assorted scraps for tulip
- Cuddle® for tulip center
- background fabric
Cutting Instructions per block:
From background fabric, cut:
- 1 square, 5 3/4″ sub cut into 4 triangles (A)
From Cuddle ® fabric, cut:
- 1 square, 3 3/4″ (B)
From contrast, cut:
- 1 rectangle, 4 3/4″ x 7 1/4″ (C)
- 1 rectangle, 4 3/4″ x 11 1/2″ (D)
*Cutting instructions yields 1 block.
You will need to complete the process for 6 blocks. Remember, since this is a scrap quilt fabric yardage is only given for the background fabric. You can find the full schedule and material list here.
Things to remember:
- Finished Quilt Size: 68″ x 85″
- Layout: Horizontal Strip
- Number of Blocks: 6 blocks total including the center unit of Pineapple Smoothie
- Background Fabric: Requires 4 1/2 yards of total background fabric
